Description
Prostanthera nivea, commonly known as Snowy Mint Bush, is an elegant Australian native shrub with slender foliage and delicate white to pale mauve flowers. It brings a softer, more refined appearance to native gardens and is particularly attractive when planted as a feature shrub or within a mixed native border. The species can grow from approximately 1–4m high, with a naturally erect to spreading habit. A commonly cultivated form reaches around 3m high × 2m wide, although size varies with growing conditions and form. The narrow leaves are held along the slender branches, while flowers appear toward the ends of the branches. The blooms are generally white to pale mauve with distinctive yellow markings in the throat and occur mainly from spring into early summer. Despite its common name, Prostanthera nivea is not strongly aromatic like some other members of the mint-bush genus.
