Description
Dischidia Variegated Million Hearts – 130mm
Variegated Million Hearts, Dischidia ruscifolia ‘Variegata’, is a charming trailing plant covered in tiny heart-shaped leaves edged and marked with creamy variegation. Its delicate foliage and cascading growth make it a beautiful choice for hanging pots, shelves and indoor plant displays.
Unlike many traditional houseplants, Dischidia are epiphytic vines and naturally grow in airy environments. They therefore prefer a light, open growing medium rather than dense soil.
How to grow Variegated Million Hearts
Place it in bright, indirect or filtered light. Good light helps maintain attractive variegation and encourages fuller growth, while harsh direct afternoon sun can scorch the foliage.
Use a chunky, well-draining mix containing materials such as bark, perlite or coco-based components. Allow much of the mix to dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain completely.
Warm conditions and moderate humidity are ideal. In Brisbane, it can be particularly easy to grow in a bright indoor position or protected outdoor area.
Let it trail
The small heart-shaped leaves look beautiful as the stems cascade over the edge of a pot. It is an excellent choice for anyone wanting something a little different from traditional trailing houseplants.
