Description
Fuchsia 'Bella' is a compact, free-flowering plant valued for its elegant hanging blooms and long flowering period. Fuchsias are especially useful where you want plenty of colour in a position that receives filtered light, part shade or gentle morning sun. The Bella series has been bred for compact growth and good branching, making these plants particularly suitable for pots, containers and hanging baskets. Their neat size also makes them useful in smaller garden beds and sheltered courtyard spaces. Mature height: approximately 30–45cm Mature width: approximately 30–45cm Position: Part sun to part shade Habit: Compact and bushy Flowering: Spring through autumn, depending on conditions Fuchsia 'Bella' produces the distinctive pendant flowers that make fuchsias such a favourite. The flowers hang among the foliage and provide an elegant display when planted where they can be viewed from close by. Fuchsias perform best in moist but well-drained soil and appreciate protection from very hot, drying conditions. In Queensland, a position with morning sun and afternoon shade or filtered light is generally more suitable than harsh afternoon sun. Keep plants consistently watered while actively growing, particularly when grown in pots. Avoid allowing container plants to dry out completely during hot weather. Regular deadheading can help maintain a tidy appearance and encourage continued flowering. A light trim can also be used to maintain the compact shape. 'Bella' is an easy way to bring colour to verandahs, patios, balconies and sheltered garden areas. Its compact growth also makes it a useful companion plant alongside ferns, begonias and other shade-loving plants.
