Pachyphytum Moonstones, often simply called Moonstones, is a beautiful succulent prized for its unusually plump, rounded leaves and soft pastel appearance. The leaves have a powdery coating known as farina, which gives them a distinctive pale, almost frosted appearance.
The rounded leaves are one of the main reasons Pachyphytum has become so popular with succulent collectors. Unlike fine-leaved or spiky succulents, Moonstones have a bold, almost jewel-like appearance, with each individual leaf looking like a small polished stone.

Light Requirements
Pachyphytum Moonstones prefers bright light and gentle direct sunlight. Good lighting helps the plant maintain a compact form and can enhance its natural colouring.
In Brisbane, morning sun and bright filtered light can be particularly suitable. Protect plants that have been grown under shade from suddenly being exposed to intense afternoon sunlight.
When grown indoors, place the plant near a bright window.
Watering and Drainage
Moonstones are drought-tolerant succulents and should not be kept constantly wet. Allow the potting mix to dry thoroughly between watering.
When watering, water deeply enough to moisten the mix and allow excess water to drain completely. Avoid leaving water sitting around the roots.
A free-draining cactus and succulent mix is ideal. Pots must have drainage holes.
One thing to remember when handling Pachyphytum is that the powdery coating on the leaves can be rubbed off. Try to avoid excessive touching if you want to preserve the beautiful natural frosted appearance.
