Description
Protea 'Little Prince' – 140mm
Protea 'Little Prince' is a compact and beautifully flowering Protea, ideal for smaller gardens, pots and sunny outdoor spaces. It produces striking pink to reddish flowers with a classic Protea form, making it a standout feature when in bloom. The flowers are also excellent for cutting and can be enjoyed fresh or dried.
Growing to approximately 1m high and 1m wide, 'Little Prince' has a naturally compact habit compared with many larger Protea varieties. Its evergreen foliage provides year-round structure, while the unusual flowers bring plenty of colour and interest during the flowering season.
Proteas are well suited to Brisbane and South East Queensland gardens when planted in a sunny, well-drained position. Good drainage is particularly important, as Proteas do not tolerate constantly wet or waterlogged soil. Once established, they are relatively low maintenance and can handle periods of dry weather.
The flowers are rich in nectar and can attract bees, birds and other beneficial wildlife to the garden. Plant 'Little Prince' as a feature specimen, in a native-style garden, or in a large pot where its compact growth can be appreciated up close.
